Dust Jacket

Medium: Adobe Illustrator – Adobe InDesign
Process and Intention:

Designing a dust-jacket was a very interesting project as we had the option to base it off any existing book/movie. My first thought was to illustrate my own version of the Dragon Ball Z mangas.

My first steps were too research about the series and the animator of this series. Understanding the main elements of this dust-jacket was crucial for me to achieve this look. Elements such as: Typography, color and dimensions.
With the help of InDesign, setting up the document and its bleeds was very easy. You have to include all sides of the book including the spine of the book.

My character was designed on Adobe Illustrator. It took around 4 hours to complete the character illustration, including the cloud he is gliding on. After that was completed, I started to incorporate more elements from the series like the dragon balls and the stars inside them.
